Go Hard And Fast But Stay Out Of Trouble

Media Release: Wednesday 12th September

To go hard and fast will be the order of the day for Caine Lobb when he competes the final round of the 2007 Formula Ford Winter Series at Manfeild Autocourse this Sunday in Feilding.

He will have to do just that if he is going to hold onto his slim lead over the very quick Russell Hartley his closest opponent of the series over the three rounds. Hartley crept within striking distance at the previous round with three wins. Lobb knows that points on the board are vital and will not be doing anything crazy this weekend but concentrating on finishing races and staying ahead of Hartley on the points table.

"This weekend the plan is to go hard and fast of course but then I have to make sure I stay out of trouble so I can stay in the lead" says Lobb.

Eighteen year old Lobb has been leading the series from the first round and has managed to be very consistent with finishing every race so far. This consistency has left him with a lead of 49 points going into the fourth and final round and as long as he stays in the top 3 in each of the three races he will be assured a championship win over Russell Hartley.

The Whangarei driver will not be looking to his team mate John Whelan for any help over the final races.

"No John won't be there to help me unfortunately. It's going to be every man for himself out there and he'll be trying to beat me just as much as the others" said Lobb.

Other than the championship hopes this weekend brings, it will also be the last chance for Lobb to get himself and the car fine tuned before the initial round of the 2007 New Zealand Formula Ford Championship which kicks off in November at Pukekohe.
